Want to learn more about satellite imagery?
Welcome to our Education page!
Here you will find the examples of using satellite images for analysis of different phenomena and events happening around the globe. With these examples, we want to facilitate your learning about satellite imagery and show you how to utilize some of freely available tools for your analysis.
We are still learning about satellite imagery ourselves and whenever we come across really good materials, we include the link to it here. If you know a good resource that shall be added to the list, do let us know!
Be curious, keep exploring and you will start seeing our planet somehow differently. Satellite images will help you gain new insights about Earth. Or simply amaze you with its beauty ... this we can promise.
Links to Good Resources
Page about exploratory overview of current and upcoming sources of data, processing pipelines, and data products. It is aimed at helping non-experts explore and harness the unfolding revolution of Earth observation, with an emphasis on understanding current capabilities and project development considerations.
Remote Sensing in Schools
Materials about basics concepts in Remote Sensing prepared by University of Bonn.
Seeing Earth from Outer Space
General introduction to remote sensing with short history. The page also contains amazing interactive visual material.
Remote sensing indices
Repository which contains a collection of custom scripts for Sentinel Hub, which can be fed to the services via the URL.
ESA's Classroom Resources
The page crated under the Climate Detectives project includes inspirational resources for teachers to engage students to learn about Earth’s climate and how to monitor our planet from space. It is a great starting point for everyone entering the remote sensing field.
RUS (Research and User Support for Sentinel Core products)
A collection of on-line courses covering various topics that can be explored using satellite data. E-learning courses are good to study the remote sensing theory and the webinars will guide you step-by-step through processing of satellite data in SNAP.
Everyone can contribute to raising awareness about remote sensing. You can do it in several ways:
- spread the message
- create a new Jupyter notebook covering some other thematics and commit it to our Education repository: https://github.com/sentinel-hub/education
- update existing Jupyter notebooks https://github.com/sentinel-hub/education
- create new custom script and commit it to GitHub repo: https://github.com/sentinel-hub/custom-scripts
- add basic information to Satellite Landscape: https://github.com/satsummit/landscape
